Join us in our efforts to support regenerative medicine!
Please take a few minutes to contact your Senators and Representatives and ask them to support the Regenerative Medicine Promotion Act of 2011 (follow the link for more information and important talking points).
Regenerative medicine holds the promise of transforming the way medicines are discovered and produced and the way health care is delivered. It represents a new paradigm in health care that will meet unmet medical needs by focusing on the underlying causes of disease. Long held as a futuristic idea of medicine, regenerative medicine is now within our reach. Help us spread the word!
This legislation has been introduced in the House of Representatives as HR 1862 and has several cosponsors. We need you to encourage other Representatives to add their names as a cosponsor to this bipartisan piece of legislation.
We also need a Republican sponsor in the Senate in order for the bill to be introduced there. The four Republican senators we are asking to sponsor include Senators Mark Kirk (IL), Scott Brown (MA), Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe (ME).
If you prefer to contact your legislator by phone, go to Congress.org and enter your zip code, then follow links to contact information and office phone numbers. Please encourage your member of Congress to support the bill. When you speak with your legislator's office, after expressing your reasons for supporting the bill, ask them to call the following for more information:
Members of the House of Representatives should contact:
Rep. Brian Bilbray (Staff: Gary Kline) and/or
Rep. Diane DeGette (Staff: Emily Katz)
Members of the Senate should contact:
Sen. Barbara Boxer (Staff: Cerin Lindgrensavage)
If you prefer to send an email, follow this link to send either a personal message, or to copy and paste the following message that we have composed:
Please support legislation that will advance research into curative therapies for many of the chronic conditions that regenerative medicine has the possibility to cure. I ask you to sponsor the Regenerative Medicine Promotion Act (HR1862) and take responsibility for making it a law. This act offers hope to paralyzed people around the country and their family members.
Feel free to add a bit of your personal story to this message. It is the most powerful tool we have in our efforts to advocate for curative therapies.
Thank you for taking a few minutes of your time to speak up for a future without paralysis.
