Advocacy
for curing paralysis is in its infancy. The demands of our illnesses and injuries rob us of time and energy that could be invested in the advocacy effort. Nonetheless, it is up to the patient community to insist that politics and funding support promising scientific breakthroughs that are already here. The Internet offers everyone an opportunity to become an online activist.
While Unite 2 Fight Paralysis sprang from the spinal cord injury community, we recognize that curative therapies will benefit those suffering from all forms of paralysis and neurological disorders. We invite members of all patient groups - Parkinson's, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, etc. - to join with us, so that our voice may grow louder and stronger and push science forward. As a group, we must express our urgency to our leaders and the general public, letting them know that a cure is not only possible, but a physical and financial necessity.
